Hurricane Bill fails to slow UAW protesters

As a hurricane stewed off the New Jersey coastline Saturday, a large group of UAW dealers, slot technicians and supporters braved the threat of violent storms to picket on the boardwalk outside Bally’s and Caesars casinos.

The weather brought 10 foot swells onto the beach and a mist hung over the boardwalk, but Atlantic City was still packed with visitors and tourists.  Many onlookers clapped and cheered for the UAW crowd and turned away from Bally’s and Caesars when they learned about the stalled negotiations at the two casinos.

The hurricane may have barely missed Atlantic City’s beaches, but our dealers and slot technicians showed they are not going anywhere until they receive a first contract with Bally’s and Caesars.
